I've been working on this one for a while now, with better posts, a total re-writing of the help-finder's code, and allowing for the eventual transition into mobile apps! There's a lot to talk about so without and further ado, The updates: New Features Better Post Presentation Posts have been re-designed with more information and better presentation. They're also now colour coded, as you can see in the pictures above, Job posts have a green header, whereas work posts have a blue header. You can also now press on the user's picture (not just the posts title) to bring up the post in a popup. Better Post Heatmaps Posts will now only turn into a heatmap with more then 1 post in its area. This means you can bring up posts even without zooming in on the map, unlike before. To access posts that are within a heatmap, you still need to zoom in until the heatmap posts are no longer close to each other. As a contingency, all heatmap posts will turn into solid, clickable posts at max zoom. The way It was done allows for future possibilities with styling and usability - like accessing overlapped posts from the same address - I'll address this at a later date. Better & less confusing buttons Menu buttons will now only show if the help finder knows you can use them. For example: in the above picture, You can see the user's New Post & My Work buttons, but since there are no posts and the user has not received any offers, the My Posts & My Offers buttons are not visible. This update was suggested by a few people to help make using the help finder less confusing. Thanks for the suggestion! Automatic Updates The help finder will now automatically search for updates every 2 minutes to: My offers, My posts, My Work, current work posts & current help posts. These will all automatically cause their relevant menu buttons to show. For example: If you receive an offer 5 minutes after opening the help finder, the 'My Offers' button will show itself after the automatic update has completed. This also means that every new post that is made will show up on your opened help finder map once it updates! Changes Re-Wrote the Help Finder in its entirety; loading speed, usability and performance have seen a substantial increase, as well as the ability for more future additions to be added, such as the next update: Better Menu's, and allows for an easier transition into Mobile Apps. Changed the wordings of on map messages - Now are more informational and less confusing. Will now also let you know if you have an offer. And that's it for todays updates. The poll on what kind of mobile app you would like to see from me is still open, and will stay open until finished my next big updates: Menu's. Once the menu's update is completed ill start work on apps, so if you want to see a specific kind, let me know by voting. On another note, I'm going to have a break for a few days. I'm bloody tired after all this coding, struggling to keep my eyes open so ill be relaxing for a bit after today. Ill still be reachable via this forum, Facebook page & emails during this time, if any of you need me. Ill probably be back on the 25th, so it wont be long. That's all for this post, Let me know your thoughts below, and have a good one.

Hi everyone, we're seeing ALOT more people joining farmers forum, as of right now we have 191 members! the past few weeks have been phenomenal, we took years to reach 100 and all of a sudden we've almost doubled which is great! More members means more people checking out our help finder, and a bigger chance that those that have posted will start finding what they're looking for. Getting back on topic, I have lately been running around fixing all kinds of small errors, further optimizing the help finder, adding more functionality and ease of use, and researching/experimenting with mobile app platforms. Without further ado, here are the last few updates: New Feature Posts Page - Map A map along with an address marker has been added to the posts page to give more information on the post owner's approximate location. Changes - The FAQ section underneath the help finder has been refined to be more to the point, has been collapsed and can now be expanded by clicking on the FAQ button underneath the help finder. - Resized the profile menu for the help finder on mobile devices, Menu's buttons are now easier to access, smaller and all within a single line, making the menu as a whole smaller & better fitting on mobiles. - Removed the "x" buttons on all help finder menu's (my work & active work menu's excluded). To close a menu, tap/click around it and it will close itself. - Added a prompt to set your address before sending an offer on the posts page. The text prompt will link to the help finder, where you can use the profile menu to set your help finder details. - Removed the default picture on from the posts page while on mobile. Note: this is only the default picture, any other picture posted will still be accessible. Fixes - Fixed a bug which let offers be sent before obtaining a user's address, which is needed to calculate the rough distance between both parties. - Fixed the default picture not loading on a posts popup - previously a blank box was displayed instead whenever the default picture was shown. - Fixed a bug which caused a 'looking for workers' popup to not properly load. - Fixed all instances that I found of dates being shown in (mm/dd/yyyy) format. They should now properly be in the Australian (dd/mm/yyy) format. And that's it for todays update notes. I'm absolutely ecstatic the help finder is being used and farmers forum is gaining a lot of members quickly, hoping we continue to grow and become HUGE! As I said at the top of the page, I'm looking in to creating mobile app's for the help finder, just to make it a more streamlined and smoother experience for our users, and from what I've figured out tinkering around, it should be doable. The poll (link here) is still up if you want to vote on the next direction farmers forum will be taking in the future, for now it looks like a help finder only App is taking the lead. That's all for this post, let me know your thoughts below, and have a great day!

Hi all! So the new year has started, and I thought it was a good idea to tell you all Farmers Forum's plans for the future with our help finder. To start with, I have almost finished working on everything I planned to put into it, and am just tidying it up, making it smoother to load & run overall. Once I am finished, then there's not much to play around with outside of design stuff and so I decided I would work on other things. That is not to say ill stop working on the help finder; if sometime down the road someone brings up a good suggestion or improvement I can make to it, ill probably add it in. Going forward My future plans with the help finder don't have anything to do with features, but instead I'm going to try my hand at making IOS and Android mobile apps for it, making it more accessible outside of just having the website. I am only 1 person so I will be making them one after the other, and I don't have an approximate timeframe for you either since ill be using new technologies (to me) to make them. Ill start with the most popular device you guys use first - iPhone. here are the average OS statistics: Kind of surprising statistics to me since I'm on my desktop far more then phone. Anyhow, that's what I COULD be working on. Now, I have a question for you all: For more context : Help finder only app would be just the map & menu's with some documentation and maybe something like a road travel route to jobsite from your current location/home or something. Farmers Forum app would look like farmers forum as a whole, complete with forum & with additional features that could come in handy around the farm, stuff like maybe a stock ledger/tracking tool, property boundary mapping, various price reports (stock, grain, etc.), Whatever you'd like really. The website has the potential to do almost everything an app can with some hard work, and so I could add more functionality and maybe make smaller Farmers Forum branded handy mobile apps sometime in the future. I will leave this poll up until I am finished adding what I want to the help finder, the Winner will set the tone for what I work on next. That's it for this post, Let me know your thoughts below, and Have a happy new year!

Hi all! Today I have a few additions and changes being made to our help finder. Without further ado, lets get into it: New Feature Posts Page The posts page is a physical webpage that you can use to open a post up from the map in a new browser window, or share with other people. To do this, once you open a post up from the help finder, you can click on the upward arrow button seen in the bottom right corner to open the page in a new window, OR click on the clip to copy the post's page link to your clipboard. These button's locations are the same on both mobile and desktop. Changes Home Page The home page has been re-designed and re-purposed to more fit its purpose, with links to other pages, forum posts and other information being added. Help Finder About New page that holds the old home page's information, with some additions and a lot more changes to it. This will be the go-to page for more information on our help finder going forward. Search The search functionality on our help finder has been disabled. This is due to some confusion over its use. It will be re-implemented when it is needed, once we start getting larger numbers of posts within small area's, making it tedious to look through. The search function was originally added with that in mind. Send Offer The location of the distance text on the send offer popup on mobile has been moved so that it is no longer 'clipping' underneath the picture upload button when the distance is 100kms or greater. Fixes Profile Fixed a small bug which showed the 'Work Finished On...' and 'categories' text to be visible on a users profile even if they have no work records. Login from post Fixed a bug which opened the menu instead of opening a post on the help finder. That's all for todays updates. Thanks for reading and have a good one. Do you have any thoughts on todays update? Let us know below.

Hi everyone! First I would like to apologize for being inactive the past while, I had been working on farmers forum non stop and ended up burnt out. After having a break, I am back, full of energy, motivation AND a new update! Todays update includes big fixes, new features, better visuals & more! Without further ado, the updates: Changes Various menus have been changed to be more easily accessible, visually appealing and mobile friendly. The help finder's post popups have been redesigned! The new features designs include: - Useful information like the posts date & tags have been included on popups, - Popups are now colour coded to help tell what kind of post it is, - Popup size has been adjusted to make them more mobile friendly, - Can now close the popup by pressing on the marker again, - Pressing on the title will now open the full post (or prompt login if not logged in), - The posts picture is now displayed New Features Added users available dates to posts for convenience. Added number of Jobs available to job posts, and number of people available to work posts. This is mostly for groups of workers (sheering groups, labor groups, etc.) and jobs requiring groups of people. Added user ratings - These show the average rating of a user obtained from Post Work reviews, and will be visible on Posts, Search results, Offers and in a user's profile. Fixes Fixed a bug that occasionally stopped people from clicking on posts while not logged in using mobile. That brings an end to todays updates. I also have an announcement to make: - I am planning on having a few features locked behind an optional monthly membership after we reach a decently large weekly user base (500+ users for now). The features chosen will be mostly convenience features, like todays added number of jobs/workers available, user ratings on posts (will still be visible for all on profiles), and increased number of allowed posts, offers, etc. per week. There are also plans for accurate hours worked tracking, work calendar & more, so look forward to it! Thanks for reading, and have a good one. Do you have any thoughts on todays update & announcement? Leave a comment below.

This makes them easier to see on some devices & resolutions. Labels have been added to the buttons, helping ease of use. Examples: Also seen above, the status text has been moved from the top of the page next to the profile button, to the bottom next to the search button on desktop. Again just a small update today, we are preparing for more features to be introduced in the near future. Like always, give us your thoughts and feedback below, and have a great day.

Hi all, many more people visiting our site now which is a bit exciting, and we've also been busier than ever working on the new features we will be introducing to you in the future! Firstly, we'd like to say thanks for all the feedback you have given us, we have listened and are making a few changes accordingly. In this update, we mostly focused on smartphone use and some fixes and improvements. Without further ado, the updates: Help Finder The Help Finder is now smaller and added in the header on smartphones. Clicking on the Help Finder's status text when logged out now brings up the Login/signup screen. The Help Finder now no longer needs to refresh the page when you log in, saving you from having to load the page twice. Fixed a rare problem that recorded a user's postcode instead of State, which was causing problems with searching by state. The "Accept Button" (green tick) on the Address lookup no longer shows if an address has not been selected. A FAQ section has been added underneath our help finder detailing some common questions we've had, and their answers. Fixed a rare issue where a user's picture couldn't be loaded and caused errors in some Menu's. Active Work The Active Work Menu is now smaller to help fit smartphones better. The end date now also shows on the Active Work screen instead of just the duration in days. Updated details are now clearly displayed in the Chat whenever the employer has made a change to the Active Work's details. We where hoping to also introduce our tutorial video with this update, but things don't always go to plan, so it will be coming out at a later date. That's all for todays updates. Like always, give us your thoughts and feedback below, and have a ripper of a day.

Hi everyone, we've been busier then usual lately, and been getting a few more website visitors too! we're looking forward to when our help finder starts helping people, and it feels like we're close! Todays updates are handy, specially with the Covid-19 laws and state lockdowns. We're implementing regional searches among a few other things! Without further ado, the updates. Regional Searching You can now search for posts within specific states & territories! This option is located in the search settings menu. As a side note, we've disabled the searching tool for when we have less then 5 posts looking for work OR help. It would be easier for people to just see their posts on the map, since there would be no clutter. Cancelled Work We have added email notifications for the following: Cancelled work - This notification will tell you if work you are involved with has been cancelled, the date (if any) it was scheduled to start, the title and names of the people involved. Cancelled work partway - This notification will tell you when your work has been cancelled part way through, and also build a part work page like normal finished work, with all the details shown, that you can comment on if you wish. statistics and work history will now be added to properly. Bugs We have fixed a rare bug that wouldn't let users accept an offer. That's all for todays updates. like always, give us your thoughts and feedback below.

Hi everyone, Just a small update today for our mobile users. Speed Improvements We have improved the help finder's loading speed on mobile dramatically. These improvements have brought loading speeds from roughly 12+ seconds to roughly 4+ seconds average in testing, a substantial improvement. (EDIT) After testing with a newer device (iPhone 12), loading times where faster then 3 seconds on average. Logo We have also re-enabled the logo on mobile devices, which can be used to send you back to the home page. This was previously removed on mobile because it didn't fit with the new layout. That's all for today's small update, Give us your thoughts and feedback below.

Active Work now displays dates in Australian date format. That's all for today's updates, Give us your thoughts and feedback below.

Hi all, Today we have implemented a few updates, changes, improvements and fixes. Namely, we have re-designed and reworked a few of our Help Finders menu's to make them easier to use, and more mobile-friendly. without any further ado, the updates. Reworks My Posts Menu The My Posts menu now looks like this. A big step forward in usability, all of your posts will appear below each other so they can be easily distinguished from each other. Simply click/tap on one of the posts to open it up. My Post My Post now offers a simple screen for you to review your whole post. The edit button has remained. Edit Post Editing your post has become more streamlined, becoming similar to creating a post, only all of the information is already loaded in for you to edit. You can change anything about your post here, except for what type of post it is. You can also delete your post by pressing/tapping the delete post button twice. Active Work Menu Active work has likewise had a rework done. It now works in 3 tabs, the Details tab, Edit Info tab, and Chat tab. The Edit Info tab is only available to employers. This rework makes it so much easier to use and is far less cluttered than the old version, especially for mobile users. Guide - Has been re-designed and remade with up to date pictures and information. Improvements Autoloads your name, contact details, profile picture into your offers. Automatically works out the approximate distance (as the crow flies) between your supplied address and the other parties supplied address using co-ordinate calculations. Fixes Fixed an issue where the same "Any" post couldn't be searched twice. Fixed an issue where occasionally distance would be incorrectly displayed in offers. Fixed an issue where the search results weren't properly being removed after sending an offer. The map now properly refreshes heatmaps periodically even if no heatmaps are detected initially. map button sizes and colours are now correctly displayed when searching using a smartphone. That's all for today's updates, Give us your thoughts and feedback below.

After quite a while in production, Farmers Forum is finally ready with the Farm Help Finder v1.0! There is quite a lot to this update, including a visual overhaul, ease of use additions, loading speed increases, frameworks for future updates and more! Without any further ado, the updates. Help Finder Visual Overhaul The Menu has been re-purposed You can now set your name, contact details and post address directly from the menu. Additional menus will be added in the future. Changed the old "My Post Marker" to the new "Home Marker". The home marker will be displayed at the address set in your menu. All buttons have been made accessible so long as you have set your address, name and contact details. This has been done to avoid confusion & complications. New Post has had a big change in how it works. now, new post will create your post in 2 steps before a review, instead of a large form. A helpful mini guide has been added below the help finder. It has been a busy couple of months to push this update out and make sure everything works together as intended. The next updates should come out a lot sooner then this one, and will be focused on user profiles, with the idea of turning them into a kind of "help finder resume" which should list histories of jobs done, what kind of jobs they are as well as the user's own input. Also considering creating a webpage based help finder option so that you can post, receive offers, search, and everything without having to load the map, which would be good for people with limited internet access and slow speeds. Let me know your thoughts below!

Today we have implemented a few small usability updates, aimed at mobile phone users, as well as giving some life to our front page. Changes: The New Post screen has been made smaller to fit most (if not all) mobile screens. This is a fix to the problem of trying to scroll down further, but having the page beneath scroll instead. The Home page has had its quick link tiles shortened, and re-arranged. The Front page has had a visual and content upgrade. Just a small update today, will be implementing bigger things soon!
