A Large update this time, took me a lot longer then I had hoped it would take, I had to change quite a bit about how the Help Finder worked, but it is over now! in this update I introduce the addition of Categories/Tags, overhaul the old Search algorithm and add Advanced searching!
Please note that as of now the Guide is obsolete, I will have to update it in the next few days to accommodate these changes.
The Menu button has been removed from the top left of the Help Finder While you are logged in.
It can still be used to Log In.
Address bars now find the coordinates of the address inputted after writing instead of on posting.
This fixes the problem of posts not properly saving due to a failed coordinates lookup.
If the Address cannot be found, you will be prompted to add more details to your address to help with lookup.
If the address lookup finds the wrong coordinates, try adding more to the address. for example: Post code, street/road name, etc. not all properties are find-able, so you could also list a nearby town or landmark.
Address requires At Least 5 characters to attempt address lookup.
You no longer need to have a post to send offers.
Posts now have categories!
Categories will be visible for everyone on the Help Finder post popups:
Categories will also be displayed on search results, both on the map and search results menu.
Images taken while testing.
You can add categories easily by selecting an option from the drop down menu. Up to 3 can be chosen.
To remove a category, simply click/press on it.
"Any" will be selected by default, and "Any" can be selected by simply removing the other categories selected.
There are currently 17 categories:
Sheep Work, Sheep Shearing, Cattle Work, Dairy, General Harvest Work, Picking - Fruit/Veg, Header Driving, Chaser Bin Driving, Plant/Tree Harvesting, Transport, Sowing Work, Plant/Tree Planting, Spraying, Woodcutting, Construction, Maintenance/Repairs, and Other.
These Categories are not final and are subject to change.
I will take suggestions for new categories to be added, and existing ones changed.
Searching will now be done in a more advanced way, with easily customizable settings!
On first pressing the search button on the Help Finder, you will be prompted to set the settings for your search.
This can be done in future searches by pressing the "Edit Settings" Button.
You will be prompted to:
Set the Address that you will be basing the search from.
Select the max distance you want to search to.
Select whether you are looking for "Work" or "Help".
(Optional) Select the Categories of your search.
"Any" is the default category.
Once you are finished, clicking save settings will lock them in for this search.
Searching will return any results up to the allowed limit that contains any of the selected categories, as well as "Any".
That's all for todays updates, it has taken me quite a while to get these finished and tested but I'm happy they are finally out! This has been probably one of the biggest updates I had wanted to get out since first starting with the Help Finder.
